Idol Thoughts: The Final Bore

OK, so by now we know that the auditions we see aren’t what really happen in the early rounds, that not everyone sees the judges, that the producers push certain contestants, that the words the judges use are tailored to get a certain response from the audience, and most recently that the judges words are either prepared or scripted.  No biggie …after all, this IS a reality show, not a singing contest.

But you’d think that with all of that they could make the show a bit interesting.  It is a really sad statement when the most interesting part of the final four show is watching Jason perform like he is completely wasted and likely to ask for some Sun Chips afterwards.  For the other three, you have the ‘generic big voice’ who is usually cut before the top 10, the ‘generic rocker’ who sings every song the same exact way (witness tonight’s ‘Baba O’Reilly’), and the ‘adult contemporary’ kid who would produce an absolute snoozer of a CD if he wins.

Anyone else with any thoughts?
