  1. That is definitely a odd trend – including cookie-cutter online multiplayer at the expense of in-person play. Wasn’t one of the big draws of consoles over PC’s supposed to be the social aspect? And is anything more social than high-fiving someone after a cool game? If I wanted to tell my kids ‘lol u r a l0ser n00b!!!1’ we could just set up games on our PC LAN and do it that way …

  2. its great how some games allow splitscreen, but as you have said there are technical limitations. If the maps are larger, then the console has to render 2 areas at once. It takes more processor and more memory.

Why is online bad company? I always pay halo 3 on a team online and have a lot of fun socializing.

  3. Because I’d rather play with my kids – or my friends in person – than with strangers, or friends, online. The article has a lot to do with a gamerparents’ perspective. Playing as a family. Using all four of those ports.
