On Christmas Day in the Morning

The GamerKids woke us up at 6am. We’d insisted their presents would disappear if they came out earlier. I put on the coffee, Linda put on her robe and fumbled for a camera, the kids wore outrageous Christmas sweaters and were racing to the tree. The dog bounded along, excited but clueless. She got her bone filled stocking and we haven’t seen her since. So what’d the kids get? How did Linda and I (and the fat guy) make ’em smile? And please, share your Christmas haul right here!

Maggie got a homemade robe from her mother

A Hannah Montana Mr. Microphone (we have like 20 versions of SingStar, Sing It, and Karaoke Revolution – what was Santa thinking here?

A makeup kit with body spray

A cool skirt

A Didj videogame system from Leap (it’s a handheld learning system good for 6-10) with a Hannah Montana Math game and a SpongeBob vocabulary game).

DS Games: Looney Tunes Cartoon Conductor, Littlest Pet Shop Garden,

Henry did well too: a homemade robe from Mom

Several drawing books and animal picture books

A LEGO Spongebob set

A Leapster 2 system with the Star Wars Math game

DS Games: Mario Kart, Wall*e, Littlest Pet Shop Jungle.

BOTH

Santa decided they had enough videogames from me so he brought them: Sorry and Battleship. Some books and a ton of chocolate candy.

Oh there was more but I’m too groggy to say. Linda and I were not supposed to exchange gifts. I wrote her a special poem and she got me some shirts and… get this… GUITAR HERO SWEATPANTS!  Sweeeeet!

Merry Christmas today. Play some games, sing some songs, laugh a lot and hug your kids. Kids are the reason for the season if you ask me.

  1. It was a great Christmas morning… Happy Christmas to all.

  2. I told Dylan that if he came out of his room before one of us got him the gifts would disappear. He stayed there until 7:30! Needless to say we were shocked.

Dylan (7) and his little sister Marissa (20 months) made out like bandits. He got 3 DS games (Wall*e, Cars, and Mystery something) and Wall*e for the Wii. He also got a Bakugan battle arena, Lego Star Wars V-19 and Naboo Star Fighter, Hess truck, and more. Marissa got her first doll with stroller, a Cabbage Patch baby, Fisher Price My First Dollhouse, Mickey Mouse Playhouse, Handy Manny talking toolbox and more. THankfully not all of this came from “Santa”. There were 2 grandmothers, a great aunt, aunt/uncle, uncle, and family friend who contributed to this haul.

Mommy and Daddy did all right too with Mommy getting a pair of Tickets to see Barry Manilow on Valentines Day and Daddy scoring a Justin Tuck jerset and gift cards for Borders and Barnes & Noble.

But best of all, I got to see the looks on their faces as they opened their gifts. The joy and excitement, it is pure priceless.

    Merry Christmas!

  3. My folks came over tonight and I got the oddest gift ever! A giant (3’x4′ or) Neon Green, White and Gold Packer helmet sign. I’ll post a picture of this gaudy monstrosity – which is so going to live in my office – soon. I love gifts like this. I’m capable of getting everything I need and can usually afford most of what I want – but stuff like this falls into the “stuff I’d NEVER buy but would totally LOVE.” That’s how you buy a gift. Kudos mom and dad (bonus points for getting Linda sexy boots).

  4. i gots:
    XBOX 360 elite
    Assassins Creed
    Candy canes!
    Mic/headset
    Chocolates
    more candy cakes!

  5. Please post a picture of your Packers sign. I have a huge amount of Packers stuff, but nothing like that.

  6. i got an iphone 3g 8gb

  7. My son Victor scored bigtime with a Wii, Mario Galaxy, Wii Play, and the Zapper w/ Links shooting game. Granny came over and we introduced her to Wii Sports (bowling was her favorite) and Rock Band. After explaining to her that they didn’t call it Country and Western Band for a reason, she settled in and we rocked some 60’s and 70’s hits 🙂

  8. Let’s see, all gifts received from all sources…

Xander (age 9): Mario Kart Wii with 2 racing wheels (GameStop brand), LEGO Mindstorms inventors book, Office 2007 Home & Student for the refurb PC I just fixed up for the kids, Green Bay Packers teddy bear, Dualshock 3 controller, some gift cards and cash

Ashton (age 7): Pokemon Stickerdex, Sonic & the Secret Rings (Wii), two LEGO Mindstorms inventors books, Pokemon action figure set, Dualshock 3 controller, some gift cards and cash

Alexa (age 4): several doll outfits for one of her dolls, rocking chair, Shrinky Dinks play sets, Dualshock 3 controller, miscellaneous gift cards and cash

All 3 kids together: Roland TD6 drum set

Mom (age ?): Keurig K-cup coffee maker, KitchenAid 600 series mixer, some Yankee Candle candles and Godiva chocolate

Me (age 42): 42″ LCD HDTV and a PS3 with Burnout Paradise and Fallout 3, Jacksonville Jaguars teddy bear

The wife and I also ended up with new cars because our old ones died, so those “gifts” weren’t exactly planned and we’ll be “giving” them for years to come. My car actually gave up the ghost the day before Christmas so I spent all day yesterday and today car shopping. It’s nice to have choices, though.

  9. I wrote a whole blog about my Christmas haul that you can read here if you like:
