Beware the Ides of Feb . . . ?
“Ides” means the 15th and you should all “beware” of it because it marks the day that GamerDad.com began buying YOUR stories about YOUR kids and games – or YOURSELF and video games. How will I “buy” them? Well, you’ll get your name and story made famous and I’ll link the story to the game maker. But I’ll also give you a FREE GAME!
Games, most of them sucky, some of them bleh, some of them really good and some will be awesome. I will reveal the prize (for example: Beautiful Katamari for Xbox 360) at the beginning of the contest. And the contest is a simple essay contest. In no more than 400 words, tell me a gaming memory in the Comments section (there will be a theme or topic – for example: games as healing) and I will allow both positive and negative stories. We’ll do this on the 1st and fifteenth of each month, so you’ll have about 2 weeks to compose your essay and spread the word. Sound good? Comment please, other than that, look for this in a couple weeks.

I think this is a cool idea. Though I do have a question. What happens if you post a topic that someone has a really great story for, but the prize is something they can’t use, like a game for a console they don’t own? Can the winner donate the game to charity or pick another prize? Perhaps you could offer a prize for each platform and the winner picks the appropriate one.
Either way, if I have a good story to go with a theme I promise not to hold back 🙂

That’s a good point. Charity is the answer to this question. Or you can take it and trade it at GameStop if you like.

Sounds like a really cool idea. I’d like to enter, but I doubt my mom would allow me to have a game sent here I didn’t buy from someone I’ve never met. I am a weird teenager though, and do like writing essays (so long as it’s about something I like).

Maybe tell your mom that I’ve been hired by Best Buy, PCGamer, etc., and I’m endorsed by the ESRB, National PTA, American Library Association, Mississippi Library Assoc,, Boys&Girls Clubs, DISNEY etc.,
I don;t think you can find a gamer better supported than me.

Just show Mom this website. 🙂

Lol, I have showed her the site, but she just doesn’t like giving out any sort of information. I’ll ask her though. But if she still says no, would you be ok with me entering and if I won giving the prize to the runner up? I just want to enter and see how I do really.

You can always donate the prize to a charity like Child’s Play or a local one in your area.
