As for last week … the promising set of releases proved to be very good, with the PC release of Warhammer Dawn of War II being widely praised as a excellent RTS – which my own limited experience with the game confirms. The DS entry of Fire Emblem is also solid, but perhaps not at the same level as its’ predecessors, while Prinny did a good job of extending the Disgaea franchise on the PSP with a hard-as-nails platformer that is still loads of fun. Perhaps most controversial is Street Fighter IV, with universally high scores but many articles suggesting that it is solid but yet another example of what is being seen as widespread score inflation of high-profile games recently.

Last week I also finished a lot of games, including Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box, LocoRoco 2 and Prinny for the PSP, finally finishing Arcanum … as well as what seems like a dozen crappy iPhone games.

What I’m Currently Playing:

  • PC: Warhammer Dawn of War II– I am not a huge RTS fan, but like to play them occasionally … it has been long enough that I’m thoroughly enjoying this!
  • PC: Gothic 2 Gold – still enjoying this on my netbook.
  • DS: Fire Emblem: Dragon Storm – I love this franchise and am thoroughly enjoying the DS version.
  • iPhone: The Quest – iPhone games are evolving, and this is a great clasic style RPG with modern graphics. Loads of fun!

Enjoy gaming!

  1. Well, my gaming rig is up and running again but so far all I have played this week is Left 4 Dead which I picked up during the 50% off sale last weekend. I did get Fallout 3 and Sacred 2 re-installed. My biggest problem is I lost all my save games for both. Not such a big deal for Fallout 3, but I was level 65 in Sacred 2 and it took me a while to get there….

Oh well, guess I have to do it all again. 🙂

  2. I thought that PQ:G was coming out for the DS and PC this week, no? I’ve been pondering which version to pick up. The DS one permits playing it anywhere, but the PC one will have a big display and mouse support.

Meanwhile, Chrono Trigger on the DS and Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble on the PC are keeping me occupied.

Mike, I thought you were going to be trying out Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride for us, or is that what’s next after FE:DS?

  3. I have the cart, right on my night stand … and I swear I’ll get to it after just one … more … turn ! 😀

As for Puzzle Quest, the PC is already in stores, and if I wasn’t planning to be busy with Drakensang I would have already grabbed it. The DS is supposed to launch this week … but I have the ‘pile-up- issue already mentioned 😉

  4. I am playing Killzone: Liberation on the PSP to get in the mood for Killzone 2. I picked up Mass Effect for $19, so I will probably start that pretty soon.

  5. I can’t believe how cheap mass effect is now. It was 15 used at gamestop. I need to start telling my friends because they all want to borrow my copy >.>

  6. Yep – Mass Effect is now a ‘platinum hits’ which means $20, and $15 used.

  7. ….and Mass Effect is a really good game. I played through it twice on my PC and will play it again when the sequel comes out since they plan on making it so you can not only bring your character from ME1 into ME2, but that decisions you make in the first game have an impact on the second. That is awesome.

  8. SHELLSHOCK 2 IS CRAP!!! DO NOT BUY OFFCIAL XBOX MAGAZINE GAVE IT A 2/11.
