Ask GamerDad 2/06/09 (Double-Sized Issue!)
My son calls Indiana Jones “Indy-Andy” Jones because he figured out my name. But this isn’t about all that, this is about a great deal: Bang, boom, pow Ask GamerDad action for the same free price!
I’ve been flakey lately with these issues and I apologize. Despite this, you haven’t been flakey at all, so I’ve got lots of questions piled up. Here’s handy-dandy-Indy-andy double sized issue spectacular! more…
GamerFamily’s Week in Games
Hey all, just dropping a note to talk about “What WE’RE Playing” over here at GamerDad hideout. GamerDad, me, is (was?) playing Civilization Xbox 360, Bully (I like this one, can’t seem to stop) and a little bit of Left 4 Dead. Maggie is on Club Penguin, doing Math on Didj and playing Ravin’ Rabids TV Party, Henry is still on the Kart. GamerMom, still healing, has been spotted playing Super Monkey Ball (iPhone), and DS titles like Brain Age. Cooking Mama is still in that mix – pun intended. Idol Thoughts: Season Eight … not great
Welcome back to a new edition of ‘Idol Thoughts’, my musings on my family’s thoughts as we watch yet another season of FOX’s top rated reality show pseudo-contest. Last year I chimed in weekly as the show started to wind down. This year I debated whether or not to even attempt it – but since we’ve watched almost every episode so far, I figured I might as well kick it off and see where it goes! more…
RPGWatch: The Whole Game in My Hand #12 (Part 2)
Continuing my coverage of handheld RPG’s from the last three months of 2008 over at RPGWatch, I take a look at the PSP and select iPhone releases. This article covers nine games – six for the PSP and three for the iPhone. Of the PSP games, one is a PSN port of an early PSx game and one is a strategy game, which means that even in the traditionally busy holiday schedule the PSP closed the year with a light offering. more…
Really Great Video Games
subtitle: For Kids and Families – As the pioneer gaming/website expert on gaming and children, I was actually happy when I saw CommonSenseMedia.org launch. It gave nonprofit legitimacy to this GamerDad vision I had, and that was personally very satisfying. Well, I worked for them for a while and lo and behold my name appears in the acknowlegements. Potentially there are scores of reviews written personally by your own GamerDad. The book: Really Great Video Games has hundreds of reviews at your fingertips. Bring on the royalties, right?
GamerDad Family – Henry Day
Happy, Happy, Henry Day!
February 7th 2003: Linda and I drove to Mount Sinai Hospital, but unlike the last time we made that drive, under those conditions, this time we did it … calmly.
Game Review: DJ Max Fever (PSP)
Game Review: Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 (DS)
Henry’s Mario Party!
Henry, my boy, my lad, my buddy, my GamerKid, my son turned 6 on February 7th. Since he is now thoroughly obsessed with “Intendo” – we threw him a small Mario Party to celebrate. Present were (names changed) Timmy and Clarabel, the latter being Henry’s (gasp, swoon) “girlfriend” and the former, as it turned out, was the 3rd wheel. GamerMom made a cake with blue frosting depicting Mario’s world and we got him plush dolls of: Mario, a Goomba, a Boo, a Mushroom, a Piranha Pete, Bowser and Kirby dressed as Link (2 birds, I figured, 1 stone). Decorations were Mario themed and, of course, videogames were played. . .
This Week in Games: Feb. 8 – 14
This week has a bit more interesting stuff than we’ve seen recently, with a few different interesting releases. The multi-platform F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will try to find success in spite of a demo widely regarded as falling somewhere between mediocre and average. The XBOX360 gets Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, the Wii sees the release of NASCAR Kart Racing and PSP owners get the sequel to one of the most loved games for the platform with LocoRoco 2. Check out the list! more…
