Videogames Preparing Children for Apocalypse?

I’m slow to find things on the Internet so this just crossed my radar screen. Bless The Onion, they’re really on to something here. I also believe that the younger generation is probably the most prepared for an alien or zombie invasion as any generation in history. So long as there’s a reset button. Or in other words: “Playing video games, all day, alone and friendless is simply the best way that we have to prepare our children for a life of solitude in a barren wasteland…” Watch the video.

  1. It’s absolutely ridiculous that people actually think we’ll turn into “Zombies and Cyborgs” In the future. This world is crazy.

  2. Have you heard of the Onion, Wampa king? It’s entirely satire.

  3. Andrew and I had the best laugh ever watching this! It was great, soooo funny.

  4. I love the Onion.

  5. And don’t feel bad. I know some very smart people who got suckered by the Daily Show or the Onion. What it really indicates is, you weren’t paying too much attention.

there will be a zombie apocalypse though. And by God I’ll be ready for it!

  6. Ohhhhhhh, XD, thats great.

  7. The zombiepocalypse seems to be discussed by a broad group of people. Not only by gamers, but I have seen this come up from time to time on gun boards.

  8. Except they don’t believe it right? RIGHT?

The Zombie Apocalypse is the current secular “apocalypse” joining Nuclear Annihilation and Mass Plague. It plays on fears of mob, rape, cannibalism, death and disease. And loneliness.

Zombies have become a safe place to tell non-Biblical end of the world stories. Wrap them in fiction and horror and a zombie movie is really just a story of survival. The story of the girl who dies early, the lawyer type who dies while betraying everyone (worse than the zombies), and the black guy who survives until the end. And then probably dies.

It’s a zeitgiest thing. Like Invasion of the Body Snatchers being code for the Red Scale and Godzilla representing Atomic terror.

  9. Fallout 3, oh give me a break.
