This Week in Games: March 29 – April 4
After some weeks that left folks wondering how they missed spring & summer and went straight to the fall release schedule, things have calmed back down. The big release is Guitar Hero: Metallica for the XBOX360, PS3 and Wii. And not too much else – especially since the PC release of Braid has apparently been delayed until August! Check out the list!
- Guitar Hero: Metallica
- Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
- Ski-Doo Snowmobile Challenge
- Guitar Hero: Metallica
- Cradle of Rome
- Dance Dance Revolution Disney Grooves
- Don King Boxing
- Guitar Hero: Metallica
- Major Minorโs Majestic March
- No New Releases
- Air Conflicts: Aces of World War II
- Don King Boxing
- Gardening Mama
- Tokyo Beat Down
- Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
As for last week … well, the handheld onslaught continued! Pokemon Platinum, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time and Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars for the DS were all quite solid (and Broken Sword & Final Fantasy were better than their Wii counterparts), while Tenchu: Shadow Assassins for the PSP was merely average. Many DS gamers failed to notice because they were still playing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
I am still busy playing a number of games across all of my platforms, and encourage you to chime in here or in the ongoing forum thread, whichever you are more comfortable dealing with.
Another programming note – I’ll no longer be posting ‘Idol Thoughts’ here, so I have put it on my personal blog. If you are interested, take a look!
Enjoy gaming!

I never thought they’d make a video game out of being in a marching band. As a former high school marching band member myself, I think I’ll have to get Major Minor’s Majestic March. And of course I’ll get Gardening Mama, as I’m a big fan of the Mama games.
Right now the game I’m most enjoying is Legacy of Ys: Books 1 and 2 on the DS. Good, simple, hack & slash fun, and you really have to put on your classic gaming hat to enjoy it. –Cary

Getting harder to make Sunday, release news seems to be pushing later and later …
I’m glad you’re still enjoying Legacy of Y’s Cary – it is much better than the PSP one (death by a million quick loading screens!), and like you say, nice simple classic fun.

Hooray for marching band, my second year is this year ๐ . Seems interesting they are making a game, but i doubt it will be any good. I don’t know, marching band just doesn’t seem like the type of thing that would work in a game.

I’m even a former marching band drum major… ๐

Haha, geeks ftw. I’m now dreading mb. My sister decided to join color guard. Whatever, I know that she’s not really the type to follow orders like in marching band, so i know that she’ll get torn up since I’m friends with a lot of the color guard people which i can now work to my advantage :P. Honestly though, I am looking foward to it, because now I know I can do it. The first time we did the 7 hour rehearsal i was ready to fall over dead, but then i got used to them. Anyway, enough of OT. I played the Guitar Hero Metallica demo. Not really impressed. Not much new, just all metallica and I’m not a fan (the other songs on the demo weren’t anything to cheer about. (Queen and Alice in Chains)
