Game Review: Ni Hao, Kai-Lan: Super Game Day (Wii)
Kai-Lan and her animal friends love to play together on Nick Jr. Now you can join them for fun and games with Super Game Day on the Nintendo Wii.
Play as one of four characters from the TV cartoon as you compete in ten different challenges. Hold the Wii remote sideways and tilt it up and down to move side to side to block soccer balls or pop bubbles. Swing the Wii remote to catch butterflies or toss water balloons at targets. Or move the Wii remote up and down to maneuver a dragon parade float past obstacles or fly a kite around clouds. Even row the remote like an oar as you race down the river in dragon boats.
Up to two players can play together, but it’s a shame that you couldn’t have four at the same time. Play each game enough times and you’ll unlock harder versions, so the game grows with your child’s skills. Reading isn’t necessary, as Kai-Lan explains the rules and how to hold the remote in every game with her voice. The game really needs more events, though, as the limited number of contests might bore some children. Controls are overly simple, so if your youngsters are having a hard time with Mario Party-style challenges, Super Game Day may be a good alternative. Ni Hao, Kai-Lan: Super Game Day is rated E for Everyone.
