Red Dead Redemption -Oops

“The game contains a scene in which two characters have sex on a table; there is a brief instance of female nudity. One sequence depicts a man injecting himself with a syringe filled with cocaine. Language such as “f**k,” “c*nt,” and ‘sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.” –OOPS! I cut and pasted this from the ESRB as “notes” because … I haven’t written this review yet! I didn’t mean to post this is the bottom line.

Knowing that this comes for Rockstar, I’m not surprised.

No, this game is not appropriate for your child. You shouldn’t even have to ask that, given the brief statement above. There are whores constantly pushing themselves on the player, constant foul language, an immense amount of violence including torture and rape, sex, alcohol, and drugs. This game is brutal, and if you’re child can’t buy it on his own, he shouldn’t be playing it. The same goes for God of War. You shouldn’t buy your 13 year old son such violent games.

My son wanted to buy this game last Sunday but I said no because of the strong sexual content and the nudity he already has games like saints row 2, fallout 3, assassins creed 2. Do you think I should let him buy this because all his friends have it, and I don’t won’t him to be left out in a way. If you could email me when you get the chance that would be great.

I was wondering if this game would appropriate for a 13 near 14 year old kid who has played Assassins Creed MW2 Left for Dead. And also how bad is the sexual content, and I would like someone who has played through the game not someone who has heard about it. Please and thank you.

And Adam you obviously have not played the game, or your confusing it with gta

I know this is an old thread but if it helps someone then that’s great. Adam is not mistaken at all. I just finished the game and it has everything he said and then some. You may think he’s confusing it because it sounds a lot like GTA, and the reason is that it has the same developer, Rockstar. The only real difference between GTA and Red Dead is the 1911 Texas setting that Red Dead has and the fact that it seems they got away with more in the western. Now, I do have to say that as of now this game has won multiple game of the year awards and I personally think it is a well thought out and greatly executed game. I would have definitely have played this game at 14 if not earlier and would have turned out just fine. Again, I know this is about a year old but hope it helps.
