Game Review: Reload (Wii)
Reload turns your Wii into an authentic shooting training gallery. Aim at real life training targets and shoot all sorts of real firearms in this arcade style shooter. In Career Mode, you’ll go through all the stages sequentially, unlocking more when you get a high enough score. Some events imitate shooting galleries, police training, combat maneuvers, and skeet shooting.
By performing well, you’ll unlock awards and patches, and other bonuses that can help you earn a high score, like special glasses that help you see hidden targets in past stages. You can also upload your high scores via Nintendo WiFi. Once you complete a stage, you can play it in multiplayer mode. Here up to four players can take turns shooting, or compete all at once on one screen!
Choose to control and aim with the remote, remote and nunchuck, or Wii Zapper accessory. Only problem with Reload is some of the later stages can be pretty challenging, which makes it tough to unlock new content. It’s a pretty simple, short experience, but for less than 20 bucks, the price is right at least. So it’s a decent enough shooting gallery game. I only wish Namco would release their Point Blank series on the Wii.
Kid Factor:
Reload is rated T for Teen with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Violence. Even though you are using real guns, you only shoot at fake targets like cardboard cutouts and clay pigeons. I would be OK with any kid playing this, but some may find the later stages too challenging.
