Charlie Brown on ICE!
The Gaylord Texan is a huge hotel in Grapevine, TX (a suburb of Dallas). Every year they have an ice sculpture exhibit, and this year it featured the TV favorite A Charlie Brown Christmas. I know it’s a little late to do anything Christmas-ey, but we decided to go to it after Christmas during the day when I was off work so it would be less crowded. It was pretty amazing, and I took a bunch of pictures. Click and read on to see them!
Sorry if the pictures don’t look as good as usual. I was a little rushed when taking them. You see, in the exhibit, they have to keep everything very cold. In fact, we all had to wear special parkas the hotel provided! So I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to take good pictures because it was so cold, and I wanted to keep my camera warm.
Even the logo was made of ice!

Snoopy and Linus rock out at the Christmas Play Rehearsal Party
Schroeder plays the piano. The neat thing about the room that housed the Christmas Play Rehearsal Party was you can see the big slide in the background that kids could go down!
Charlie Brown and Linus pick out a Christmas tree
Charlie Brown is sad because his Christmas tree is so puny compared to Snoopy’s house lights
Kids (and very limber adults) could even crawl through Snoopy’s doghouse.
Linus quotes the Bible on stage to explain to Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about.
DOOO-DOO-DOO, DOO-DOO, DOOOO-DOO-DOOOOOOO…
The level of detail on these sculptures was amazing. They even made the ice dirty for PigPen!
Charlie Brown is happy now that he understands the true meaning of Christmas. In this last room, the Peanuts gang encircles Charlie Brown and Snoopy as they sing.
My mom in the ice tunnel going to the final part of the exhibit
In the final room was a nativity scene and a beautiful angel made out of ice.
Outside the exhibit was a neat miniature train station that I took a picture of.
It doesn’t have anything to do with the ice exhibit, but here’s a picture of our dog Venus enjoying her Christmas present, a rawhide gingerbread man. That’s all for now, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year! –Cary
