“Boxer the Unboxer” Unboxes Otomedius Excellent Collector’s Edition (360)

Recently I got Otomedius Excellent, a 2-D shooter for the Xbox 360. It’s essentially a Gradius game with anime girl characters in it. The game comes in a Collector’s Edition, so here’s everyone’s favorite sock puppet puppy: Boxer the Unboxer, to ‘unbox’ and show everything you get in this special edition game!

Otomedius Excellent is a Gradius game, as said earlier. Probably due to the popularity of other recent character-based 2-D shooters like Castle Shikigami or Deathsmiles, Otomedius has a cast of anime girls instead of spaceships. But the heroines do pilot little Vic Viper ships around their waists like they’re wearing pool toys. Anyway, here’s what the box looks like. It’s all shiny.

And here’s what you get in the box! There’s the 360 game of course. It also comes with an artbook, but I won’t show you the pictures because they’re not exactly family friendly (the game is T rated). Inside the artbook is also a CD soundtrack. But the weirdest thing they included is an Otomedius Excellent pillowcase (all folded up in the pic). Now, WHY in the world would they do that? The pillowcase wouldn’t even match my puke green bed sheets, so back in the box it goes! Very weird.

And that’s all you get. As a Gradius game, Otomedius Excellent isn’t the best in the world. But I’m glad Konami brought it to the US anyway. –Cary
