Reader Review: Dark Legends (PC)
Dark Legends is an online MMO available for the PC and mobile devices. Since I’m not quite an expert on these kinds of games, I’ve enlisted my brother Jeff again to guest write this one (PC version reviewed here).
Dark Legends is a game reminiscent of an online version of Gauntlet. You can either play solo or with other people as you clear level after level of enemies and bosses. The controls are pretty simple, using WASD to move and the mouse to click attacks you want to use. In order to accept missions you have to use a certain amount of your energy meter, which slowly refills. The missions either have you wait a short amount of time for your reward or play through a level for the prize, but the game sets up the missions so you can wait for other missions to complete while you run through a few levels.
The game also has a hub world for players to interact as well as a player vs. player zone. As with many free games, Dark Legends offers micro transactions where players can exchange money for in-game currency, experience, or sets of weapons and armor. You can also buy a refill for your energy meter so you don’t have to wait in between a few missions. Although the graphics may be simple, I am sure that Dark Legends would run great on any computer. –Jeff Orth
Kid Factor:
Dark Legends isn’t rated by the ESRB, but since it involves vampires, there is some blood, suggestive themes, and violence going on. So it’s probably best for teens or older gamers. As with all online games, parental guidance is recommended. (Kid Factor by Cary Woodham)
