Marvel Pinball: Deadpool (360)
Everyone’s favorite “Merc With a Mouth,” Deadpool, is bouncing of the comic book pages and into his own pinball game. His table features all the madcap nonsense and crazy humor you’d expect from Marvel’s most wisecracking superhero (and sometimes villain). You can download and play it on consoles that support Zen Studios’ pinball games and PC, but it’s reviewed on 360 here.
When you download Pinball FX 2 or Zen Pinball 2 (depending on which game console you own), you’re just downloading the hub. It’s free, and then you purchase separate tables for play in the game. Deadpool is the newest in their Marvel Pinball line, and it has all the fourth-wall breaking, raucous humor that Deadpool is known for in the comics. There’s even a pinball table within a pinball table that Deadpool plays. I found Deadpool’s banter a little repetitive after a while and not as funny as I thought it would be, though. And the rules are a little harder to figure out and activating special events on the table is a bit more difficult. However, my brother Jeff is a huge Deadpool fan and even reviewed another Deadpool video game on this site, and he loved this table. So if you’re a Deadpool fan, too, you’ll probably like it as well.
Kid Factor:
Pinball FX 2 is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Comic Mischief. It’s just pinball, so it’s not very violent. However, Deadpool’s table in particular has a bit more crude humor that parents may not like for young kids. Deadpool knows full well that he’s in an E rated game, and wishes it were M rated so he could curse without getting everything bleeped out. But the comic isn’t meant for kids either, so that’s just something to be aware of.
