Gummy Drop (iPad)
Match 3 puzzle games are everywhere, and now fans can add a new one to their collection. In Gummy Drop, slide to match three or more gummy candies of the same color in order to rebuild the most famous monuments of the world! It’s available to download on the App store, but reviewed on iPad here.
Like many other games of this ilk, you have limited moves to match as many gummies as you can. Match four or more at the same time to receive special gummies that can clear out rows, columns, or even entire colors on the field! In some stages you have different objectives, like reaching a high score, clearing out background tiles, sending certain objects to the bottom of the screen, etc. If you fail to reach these objectives after using all your moves, you lose a life. Lives refill over time, or you can buy more lives, moves, and more with real money at the in-game store.
Sometimes you must match more than just gummies, though. Bricks and other materials can be matched and collected to build monuments all over the world. In fact, the only way to move onto the next set of stages is to build monuments, which cost a certain amount of materials to build. Luckily, you can replay stages at varying difficulty for more challenges and materials to collect.
Really the only thing that annoys me about this game are problems that other titles with in-game purchases have. You must wait for a while for your lives to fill back up, and some levels seem nearly impossible unless you purchase boosts and extra moves to keep you going. And aside from the vast number of stages and the replayablity of previously beaten levels, this game doesn’t offer anything new or different to the Match 3 puzzle genre. However, if you can’t get enough of these games, you may want to give this one a try as well.
Kid Factor:
Reading skill is helpful for the text, and parental supervision is recommended for all the in-game purchases.
