KromacelliK (iPad)
The story behind this game is kind of interesting, as one of the developers worked on this game when he was going through cancer treatments. When the game was finished and ready to go, he got better! In the game, you maneuver a cell in a dark, 8-bit looking world, avoiding obstacles and guiding lost cells to where they need to be. It’s downloadable for iOS and Android devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
Your job as a microscopic cell is to move about the mazes, avoiding enemies (three hits and you lose), and bringing colored soft cell bodies to their respective colored bins. Once you do that, you must find the exit to complete the level. It’s always a good idea to carry around one of the colored soft cell bodies with you, as they can defeat enemies if you can make them run into each other. But the poor play control makes that very difficult.
That’s the main bad thing about this game are the controls. To move your cell, you must touch it and then drag where you want it to go. But if you drag too far, the cell just stops. Tap on a soft cell body when you are near them to attach a string to carry them around, but it’s hard to make them go where you want them to because of the controls. Unfortunately, that’s the main thing that ruined the game for me.
Kid Factor:
Nothing very violent here, but reading skill is required for the text instructions. Plus, kids may find the game too difficult and frustrating because of the slow-paced gameplay and poor controls.
