Lines (iPad)
In the puzzle game Lines, your goal is to make sure your color fills up the most lines in each stage, represented by a pattern. You’ll do this in several different game modes. Lines is available for iOS devices and Windows phones, but reviewed on iPad here.
While there are several unlockable game modes, the object of the game is always the same. Make sure your color covers more lines than any other. You can tell what color is yours by the border of the screen. In the first mode, you tap on the screen to add dots of your color to the line pattern. Once you are done, the colors will fill the lines like flowing ink. You must use strategy to make sure your color covers more than the others. Some tricks include placing your dots on intersections or areas that’ll block the other colors.
After you finish the first 20 levels of this mode, you’ll unlock a new one. The next mode is called Eraser and in it you must tap on dots to remove them, and then see which color ink covers the most. After you beat 20 levels of that, you’ll unlock a mode where you must draw new lines for the colors to flow through. There are even more game modes after that, too!
There is also a daily challenge, as well. Beat these challenges and you can earn trophies, which unlock even higher levels in the game modes! Lines is also very relaxing. A dynamic piano score plays while you conquer the levels. If you enjoy simple games that make you think, you’ll definitely want to download this.
Kid Factor:
Nothing violent or objectionable here. Reading skill is helpful for some of the text instructions and menus, but with a little help, the game is pretty easy to figure out just by playing. As a puzzle game, Lines could be considered somewhat educational as it encourages using thinking skills.
