World of Final Fantasy Strategy Guide
This game may look cute and cuddly, but World of Final Fantasy can be quite challenging sometimes. In this monster gathering and battling RPG, if you don’t go into the fight with the right strategy, you might find yourself toppled over—literally! Luckily there’s the World of Final Fantasy Strategy Guide from Prima Games. When I was a kid, I used to enjoy the older Final Fantasy games, and would pour over the printed guides when I wasn’t playing. This guide made me feel like a kid again while reading it, so let’s take a look inside together!
First of all, here’s a close up shot of the front cover. One thing I like about the guide is that all through the pages, there is a good mix of artwork and worded content. It’s a nice balance.
The first part of the guide is an introduction to the game, characters, and mechanics. You’ll learn the basics of adventuring, battles, menus, and stacking monsters on your head (yes, really). Here’s a sample page from that section.
Next is a walkthrough of the main story. Since the game is broken up into short chapters, finding them in this guide is easy. There are handy maps and battle tips, too. Here’s a page:
Even after the main story, there is so much to do in this game! The guide then covers post-game content, like EX Dungeons, Miniventure Sidequests, The Coliseum, Intervention Quests, and a Mirage Manual. The Mirage Manual covers all the monsters you can battle and capture. I looked over every monster in this section, just like I did with the old Final Fantasy guides I used to read back in the 8- and 16-bit days!
And finally is an encyclopedia, which acts as the guide’s index. And last is all the trophies you can earn. What’s really cool is the game also comes with a free eGuide, and a tear-out poster of all the monsters in the game! I took a picture of the back of the book because it shows real well what the poster looks like.
And that’s the guide! I’d have to say that aside from some of the text being a bit small, this is one of the best guides I’ve read in a long time! It even reflects the humor of the game in the text! Stay tuned next time for my full review of the World of Final Fantasy game!
