New Zelda Amiibo
I just got a new batch of amiibo figures, this time they are Legend of Zelda based. I guess to correspond with the 30th Anniversary of the Zelda franchise, at least according to the boxes. So let’s take a look at them!
Here they are still in their boxes. On top is a two-pack of Wind Waker Link and Zelda. Down below is 8-bit Link and Ocarina of Time Link. My favorite is the 8-bit Link, as the original Legend of Zelda on the NES is still one of my favorite Zelda games.
Here they are out of their boxes. I’m not that excited about Ocarina of Time Link, but I figure they’d have to put him in here since that game is so popular. Wind Waker Link and Zelda are all right. But like I said, my favorite is 8-bit Link. He reminds me of the 8-bit Mario amiibo they released last year around the time of Super Mario Maker. The new amiibo figures act like the Smash Bros. Link and Zelda figures when you scan them.
One interesting thing about the 8-bit Link amiibo that took me by surprise and you wouldn’t see it if you just looked at the front is that he carries his White Sword on his back (see picture). I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, he looks cooler with a sword on his back and it adds a nice splash of color. But at the same time, it makes the figure not feel as authentic since Link never had a sword on his back in the original Legend of Zelda. But it’s just a figurine, so I’m not THAT upset about it!
And that’s all the new amiibo. I can’t wait to see what new amiibo Nintendo releases next year in 2017! Hope I can get them all! –Cary
