New 3DS StreetPass Games: Ninja Launcher
In this new StreetPass game, you are the heir to a ninja clan, but there are enemies atop a cliff waiting to attack. So you must use your ninja clan’s honored tradition of firing yourself from a cannon to do battle. But wait, it gets weirder. When you enter the cannon, you find out you’re not wearing any clothes! They explain your clothes would burn off if you wore them while being fired from the cannon. This is where your StreetPass tagged friends come in. Each one will stand on the ground and fly a kite, and on the kite will be an article of clothing, weapon, or armor. It’s your job to adjust them so that when you are fired from the cannon, the kites will line up with your trajectory so that you’ll be able to nab as many items as you can so you can fight the enemies on the cliff. For some reason, this game reminds me a bit of Angry Birds.
To adjust where the kites are, press left and right on the D-pad to move your characters, and L and R to switch to another kite flyer. I think the height of your tagged friends determines the height of their kite, too. You’ll have a limited amount of time to do test runs to see where your path of trajectory is and how many kites you run through. When it’s time to do battle, the more armor and weapons you nab while in the air, the stronger you’ll be. Then you’ll trade blows with your opponent. If you’re strong enough, you’ll defeat him. If not, you’ll still whittle down their hit points, but you’ll have to do a ninja escape before they attack you! Then the game shows you your score and that’s it. It’s definitely one of the shortest and simplest StreetPass games in this batch. But these types of games are supposed to be simple, so I didn’t find too much problem with this one.
The other problems I have are common in all the new StreetPass games. I don’t know if they’ll hold my attention as long as some of the other ones did. I unlocked everything in Find Mii and its sequel. I played through the flower game and grew all the breeds (but I did stop when they challenged me to grow all the colors in all the breeds). And I’m still enjoying the fishing game. But I don’t think these new titles have staying power. Also, I think they released these a little too late as well, because now that the Nintendo Switch is on its way and can be a portable game system, too, it makes me wonder how long of a life the 3DS has left? Better enjoy it while I can, I guess.
Kid Factor:
The StreetPass games are rated E to E-10. This is probably the most violent of the new StreetPass game bunch, but even then, it’s not bad. When you attack the enemy, it’ll show you swinging your sword, then the enemy will reel back. If you defeat it, it’ll fall over and disappear in a puff of smoke. And the enemies are silly things like cartoony skeletons and such anyway, so it’s not bad. If they attack you, you’ll do the ninja smoke bomb thing and replace yourself with a scarecrow decoy. And of course, reading skill is needed for the text.

I get a kick out of the clothesless cannon premise. This seems like it might be my favorite so far of the ones I’ve read your reviews of.

Well it was certainly the most fun to write a review of.
