The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts (Book)

I got this book about a year ago and just never got around to writing about it until now.  Just too many games to review and such!  Anyway, it’s a book of official art from the Zelda series and makes a nice companion to the Hyrule Historia book that came out earlier.  I thought I’d just take a quick look at it with you all.

So first, here is a bigger shot of the book.  It’s a HUGE hardcover book, maybe even thicker than the Hyrule Historia one!  And it only costs 25 bucks on Amazon, which isn’t bad at all.

The majority of the book is split into two sections.  The first has pictures and art found in each of the instruction booklets for each of the games in the series, from the first NES Zelda all the way up to Tri-Force Heroes.  I’m not going to take pictures of every single one of these games, so I’ll just pick ones from my favorite game in the series: Link’s Awakening.

The next big portion of the book has art of the characters in each game, as well as drawing of the items in each entry, too.  Again, here’s a shot of one of the pages from Link’s Awakening.  What’s your favorite Zelda game?  Let me know in the comments section.

The final few pages have box art and logos, pixel art from the 8 and 16-bit games, and a bonus gallery with various art, like Link riding his motorcycle from Mario Kart 8.  There are a couple of pages of art from Breath of the Wild, but I think this book came out around the same time as the game, so I guess they didn’t want to spoil much.  And finally is a few pages with an interview with some of the artists.

And that’s pretty much it.  Again, it’s a pretty neat book for Zelda fans.  I think later this year they’re making a Zelda Encyclopedia book or something.
