Poker Pretty Girls Battle: Texas Hold’em (PS4, PS5, Switch)

Play Texas Hold’em poker against a group of cute anime ladies in Poker Pretty Girls Battle.  It’s available on modern PlayStation systems and Switch, but reviewed on PS4 here.  There are two main modes of play. In Pretty Mode, you’ll challenge one of the girls and two random characters and if you win, you’ll earn a piece of a picture puzzle.  There is also a Free-Play Mode where you can just play against who you want.

In the game you play Texas Hold’em, a variation of poker except you only have two cards in your hand, and everyone shares a hand of five cards in the middle.  As cards are gradually introduced to the middle pile, you can choose to keep playing, fold, or raise the bet, depending on how good the two cards are in your hand and how they match up to the pile in the middle.  Whoever has the best hand at the end wins the round, and whoever is left standing after everyone else runs out of chips is the champion.  There is an options menu that explains the rules probably better than I did.

I think they tried to give your opponents a little bit of personality, like in the first round if you bet over 15 chips, the first lady will always chicken out and fold.  But I really couldn’t get into this one because I’m not a big poker fan.  Plus there’s just not much to this game.  But if you want to play Texas Hold’em with anime girls, this game does have you covered.

Kid Factor:

Poker Pretty Girls Battle: Texas Hold’em is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Simulated Gambling and Suggestive Themes.  You do bet with chips, so there’s the gambling.  And the ladies are wearing skimpy swimsuits but at least this is not strip poker.  Even so I’d say this one is best for older players.
