Wobbledogs (Switch, PC)

Take care of your own mutant pups in Wobbledogs for Switch and PC (reviewed on Switch here).  Feed them, clean up after them, and breed them in this virtual pet simulator.

You’ll start off in a brief tutorial so you must pay attention.  You’ll use a cursor based control system to highlight and pet your dogs, craft things in their space, and move stuff around.  Your pets aren’t real dogs, but mutant dogs with shoebox bodies and wobbly legs.  You’ll build things for them like food dispensers and egg incubators, as well as plant seeds and more.  Since your dogs are mutants, they age by going inside a cocoon when they’re ready, and lay eggs when they give birth.  Depending on what you feed them and how they are bred, you may get different species of critters, too.  When you reach certain goals, you are rewarded with new items.  You can even decorate the space with wallpaper, floors, and furniture, too.

My only problem with the game is that it’s sometimes hard to know how to do things, either because of the breezy tutorial or the sometimes confusing interface.  But the game also reminds me a lot of Viva Pinata, so if you enjoyed that kind of game, you may want to check this one out.

Kid Factor:

Wobbledogs is rated E-10 with an ESRB descriptor of Crude Humor.  You can clean up pee and poop, but that’s about it.  Reading skill is a must and because of the complicated tasks, I’d say this one’s best for older kids.
