Cat Pipes (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

I’m not sure what this game has to do with cats or pipes.  Sure the game plays similarly to titles like Pipe Dream, but the “pipes” here are just represented by dotted lines.  And I THINK I saw a cat in the background of the stages, but I’m not sure.  But it’s still a serviceable puzzler and available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.

In each stage are squares with dotted lines representing pipes.  You can highlight each square with the directional pad and rotate them with the button.  Your goal is to get the ‘water,‘ represented by the dotted lines turning from white to red, to all of the squares with holes in them.  Just rotate the squares until all the holes are connected to red lines, and that’s it.  There are nearly 50 stages in all.

My only problems with this game is that I think there is something wrong with the title screen.  You can highlight ‘Play’ or ‘Tutorial’ but when I click on the second option, it just makes the screen smaller and you can then highlight ‘Play’ or ‘Controller’ but I get stuck after that and have to exit.  I think it’s a bug or something.  Luckily the game is pretty easy to figure out without a tutorial.  And I think the game could do better in the presentation department.  Granted, these types of games don’t need good graphics, but as it stands, this feels like a rough draft of a game.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here, and reading skill isn’t needed to play.  Cat Pipes is rated E for Everyone.
