Honeyland (Switch)
Help a bear get to his honey in this card based puzzle game on Switch. On each level you are presented cards with numbers and arrows on them, and when you select one, your bear will move in that many spaces and go whatever direction it dictates. If you can reach the honey, you’ll pass the level, with 30 levels in all.
Controls are simple. Just move the D-pad to select a card and the button to pick it. If you mess up, you can press another button to start the level over again. One tricky thing is the bear moves in the direction HE’S facing, not the camera. But luckily they give you visual cues to let you know where he’ll go, so it’s not a problem. What is a problem for me is that the game gets too hard too quickly. A hint option would’ve been nice. And the game is a bit too ‘bare’ (pun intended). But otherwise it’s a serviceable puzzler.
Kid Factor:
Nothing violent or objectionable here. Reading skill isn’t needed, but number and directional recognition is helpful. The game may be considered slightly educational, but younger gamers may need help with the tougher puzzles. Honeyland is rated E for Everyone.
