Super Woden GP 2 (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)
Top down viewed racing games have always been a staple in arcades and consoles, with titles like Super Sprint, World Rally, Micro Machines, RC Pro-Am, Drift Out, and many more. And now there’s the sequel to Super Woden GP, which I reviewed a couple of years ago. The newest installment is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
Honestly I didn’t notice much difference between this and the original game. You begin on a map with many locations, most of them are car companies with racing vehicles you can buy. You start off with just enough money to buy one of the cars, so choose carefully. You can then choose to race in short weekend events on a single track, or do a whole GP season. You can also do free races and time trials. There’s also a car wash where you can clean your car for some reason, as well as give it a tune up if you have enough cash. Winning races earns you money to buy more and better cars so you can participate successfully in the harder races. The action is viewed top down so you drive like how you would an RC car, or games like Micro Machines.
One new addition is an Arcade Mode, which reminds me of Drift Out. It lets you play with some preselected cars that are actually fairly decent to drive and you are tasked to go around a lap in a strict time limit to go onto the next stage. Only problem is it’s way too hard. And that’s really the issue I have with the whole game. Just too hard and too much of a steep learning curve. But at least it’s not buggy like the first game was.
Kid Factor:
Super Woden GP 2 is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Alcohol Reference and Mild Violence. I didn’t notice any alcohol in the game, and you only bump and crash other cars. Reading skill is helpful for the text, and younger gamers may find it too difficult.

I like that isometric view in the screenshot above. The detail is good too.
