Busway Islands — Puzzle (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X/S, PC, Mobile)

Arrange roads and tracks so a bus and a train can make it to all their stops and reach the tunnels without crashing into each other in Busway Islands – Puzzle.  It’s available on pretty much anything you can play a game on, but reviewed on Switch here.

Each level is an island, and there are around 40 levels in all.  On each level are roads and train tracks for you to arrange to make a path.  To do this, you’ll move a cursor around the screen.  When you highlight a piece of road or track, you can do a few things with it.  Rotate it with the L and R shoulder buttons and swap it out with another piece by highlighting it, clicking on it, and then highlighting and clicking on another piece.  You can move the camera with the R stick and zoom in and out a bit as well.  When you are ready, press another button to make the train and bus go.  If you can get the bus to all the stops and the bus and train to their tunnels without crashing, you’ll win the level and move onto the next.

There are no instructions, but luckily the levels start out very easy and the game is pretty simple to figure out.  But the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly as you must think about timing so your bus and train won’t run into each other.  A hint option might’ve been nice and I do wish you could rotate the level around as well.  Otherwise it’s a fairly serviceable casual puzzler.

Kid Factor:

Busway Islands – Puzzle is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.  If your bus or train runs off the roads or tracks, they’ll just tumble over like toys.  But if they run into each other, they’ll explode!  But that’s about as violent as it gets.  Reading skill isn’t needed, but younger gamers may need help with the controls and tougher levels.

  1. I’ve seen a lot of these kinds of puzzles games recently. I like them too, so why not another?
