SokoMage (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X/S, PC)
Help a wizard reach a magical crystal in a forest in the puzzle game SokoMage. It’s a block pushing puzzler available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
Your goal in each level is to make it to a floating magical crystal, and there are 30 levels in all. Most of the levels have bushes, ice blocks, and holes blocking your way. You can move in four directions and when you are next to a bush, you can push a button to zap it away. If you are next to an ice block, you’ll kick it and it’ll slide until it hits a bush or wall, or falls into a hole. You can then pass over the hole. You must figure out how to get the ice blocks to where they need to go and make sure you only destroy the necessary bushes to create a path.
You can undo moves and start the levels over if you mess up, so that’s nice. My only problem is I wish it didn’t get so hard so quickly. A hint option or level skip feature would’ve been nice if you get stuck. But otherwise, this is a pretty decent little “Sokoban” style puzzler if you like that sort of thing.
Kid Factor:
Nothing violent or objectionable here. Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play. The game may be considered educational because it reinforces logic and thinking skills, but younger gamers may find the puzzles too difficult. SokoMage is rated E for Everyone.
