In honor of the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, McDonald’s recently had Happy Meal toys based on the characters from the film.  I got a few of them, so let’s check them out!

Here’s a picture of the Happy Meal box.  I like that they still use this style of box after all these years.

And here’s the other side of the box.

I got three of the toys: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.  The figures in the middle of the roller snaps in, so you can take it out and play with it separately.  They also had Super Sonic, Shadow, and Super Shadow toys, but I didn’t get those.

One other thing to note is that on the Happy Meal box and toys boxes, they had a QR code you could scan to play a little Sonic game on your cell phone.  In the game, you first choose to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Shadow.  Then you roll around three different 3D mazes picking up as many Chaos Emeralds as you can.  You can swipe left, right, or up to spin dash in that direction.  But you only get a limited number of moves.  After the three mazes, the game tallies your score and you can either play again or choose a different character.  It’s simple, but I don’t know, I kind of liked it.  Heck of a lot better than the other Happy Meal phone games I’ve played.

Speaking of the Sonic 3 movie, I saw it last month and it was pretty good.  Especially if you liked the story in Sonic Adventure 2, as the movie takes close inspiration from that.  And it’s just a fun family movie, too.  When I went, I got a special popcorn tin.  I got the last one, too!  It’s embossed, and while the tin is a little thin and looks like it could dent easily, I’m glad I was able to get it.  Here’s what it looks like:
