3D Don’t Die, Mr. Robot (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

Several years ago I reviewed a game called Don’t Die, Mr. Robot.  It was a simple arcade style game where you controlled a square robot and avoided enemies while collecting fruit and coins and chaining explosions.  And now they’ve made a 3D version of it.  It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

There are four modes of play.  The main one is Remix.  Here you have a set of levels, each one with a different task.  You may need to survive as long as you can, destroy a certain number of enemies or collect a certain number of fruit or coins, among other things.  You can earn bronze, silver, or gold trophies depending on how well you perform those tasks.  You’ll want to get the best trophies you can, because that’s how you unlock the next set of levels.  In Arcade Mode, you have one life to survive as long as you can and get a high score.  Try to last a certain amount of time in Time Attack, and if things get too stressful, you can try Chill Mode which is like a slower Arcade Mode.  The coins you collect can also be used to buy outfits and colors to customize your robot.

Play control is simple, just move around and avoid things.  If you collect fruit, it’ll make an explosion which you can chain with other fruit to make bigger blasts and clear out enemies.  The game may not hold your interest for very long, but if you want a simple to understand classic arcade style game, this one’s for you.

Kid Factor:

3D Don’t Die, Mr. Robot is rated E-10 with an ESRB descriptor of Fantasy Violence.  There are lots of explosions, and if you get hit you just stop moving while electricity surrounds you, and that’s it.  Reading skill isn’t needed, but younger gamers may need help with the tougher levels.
