Minecraft Movie Meals at McDonalds!
The Minecraft Movie was recently released, and McDonald’s promoted it with Happy Meals and other goodies. Let’s take a look at them!
Here is a bigger picture of the Happy Meal box. I always like it after all these years they still use the traditional box. This one has a llama from the movie, but I also saw a box with the green creeper on it. Unfortunately I didn’t get that one with the Happy Meals I got.
The apple slices in the Happy Meal even had Minecraft on it. It’s an Apple Bee! Whoops, wrong restaurant! I’m surprised that they didn’t have the bee on the honey mustard packets!
The toys I got were these little unfoldable boxes. Here are the ones I got, plus the box they came in.
You can fold out the boxes to make a little play area, and the top of the box has a little figure. The ones I got have a llama and some girl, probably from the movie.
Here’s the display at McDonald’s showing all the Happy Meal toys.
And a closer view of them, too.
The box for the toys also had a QR code you can scan to play a little Minecraft game. It shows you about to enter McDonalds in the real world but a portal opens up and sucks you into the Minecraft world. Now you’ve got to go inside a blocky Minecraft McDonalds and craft materials to make it back to the real world! There are three levels, but they are all pretty much the same, only slightly faster.
The first thing you’ll do is play a mini whack-a-mole style game where you tap Happy Meal boxes on tables when they appear.
When that is done, you’ll craft things using the resources you collected from the game. If you don’t have enough, just play the game again. Once you craft all the materials in all three levels, you can open up the portal and go back to the real world. But you look back and see the characters cheering you on the other side!
They also had a Minecraft Movie Meal for adults. But they were out of stock when I tried to get them. And I went to McDonalds just days after the promotion started. They either ran out very quickly or didn’t get any at all. I’m kind of sad I didn’t get one because the prizes look like they were based on classic McDonalds characters.
And that’s all for now! Are you going to see the Minecraft movie? I probably won’t, but I bet my nephews and maybe some of my brothers might! –Cary
