The Walking Dead Pinball (360)

DEAD_BOXZombies are kind of a big deal right now in the entertainment world, and one of the most popular franchises is The Walking Dead.  Originally an underground comic book, now it’s one of the most-watched shows on cable TV, and a multi-million selling point and click adventure series from TellTale Games.  And now it’s also a pinball game from Zen Studios for various platforms on Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball 2 (reviewed on 360 here).  The Walking Dead Pinball is based on TellTale’s point and click adventure game, so you’ll get the most enjoyment out of it if you’re familiar with that entry.

When you download Pinball FX 2 or Zen Pinball 2 (depending on which game console you own), you’re just downloading the hub.  It’s free, and then you purchase separate tables for play in the game.

Even though personally I’m not a big fan of The Walking Dead or zombies in general, I have to say that the pinball game is one of Zen Studios better pinball tables.  The ramps are easy to spot and the rules are simple to understand.  Multiball is quick to obtain and missions are easy to find.  In each mission you’ll have to choose who to save, just like in the point and click adventure game.  There is even a mini-table to try, and a neat sniping mini-game where you use the left and right flipper buttons to move a reticule scope and fire at zombies with the plunger button like a shooting range!  So if you’re a big fan of The Walking Dead TV show and game, you’ll definitely want to check out the pinball table, too.

Kid Factor:

Even though Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 is rated E for Everyone, I’d have to say that The Walking Dead Pinball is better for older players.  The table has a few scary looking zombies and sounds, but nothing horrific or very violent.  However, it’s based on a game and TV show that is extremely gory and violent, so because of that, this is the only Zen pinball game I’d say is better for older players.  It’s too bad Zen Pinball doesn’t have games based on other TellTale properties, like Sam & Max.
