Glass Masquerade (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, Mobile)

In Glass Masquerade, you put together pieces of a stained-glass window to form a clock face.  So yeah, it’s a jigsaw puzzle.  It’s available to download on nearly all current gaming devices, but reviewed on PS4 here.

You start out by picking a country on a map.  As you complete puzzles, you’ll unlock more places to go and more puzzles to solve.  Each puzzle is mostly circular in design, and is a round-ish clock face with a stained glass window behind it.  The pieces are around the circle, and you can highlight them with the left analog stick and press the X button to pick one up.  Once you do that, you can move it on the puzzle and if you press the button again where it’s supposed to go, it’ll snap into place.  If not, it’ll just go back to where it was before.  Once you have all the pieces in place, you’ll solve the puzzle.

You can choose to have hint pieces that give you a start, or not.  You can also stop a puzzle and continue solving it later, which is nice.  The easy puzzles take about ten minutes to solve, and the harder ones a little longer.  The game records how long it takes to solve each puzzle.  The only problems I had with the game is that the pieces look too large to fit where they are supposed to go, and since it’s stained glass, you really go by shapes instead of colors, since stained glass windows are separated by lines.  Plus the clock hands get in the way sometimes.  But even so, I still had some casual fun with this game, so if you like jigsaw puzzles and stained glass windows, you might want to check this out as well.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here.  Reading skill is helpful for some of the menus, but not necessary just to play.  I guess it could be slightly educational in the geography and social studies department, as you click puzzles from countries on a map, and can see their flag.  The puzzles you solve usually have to do with that region as well.  Glass Masquerade is rated E for Everyone.
