Cooking (Switch)

This game may have the most unoriginal title ever, but at least you know what you’re getting.  Cooking on Switch looks and plays nearly identical to a game I reviewed a few months back called Tokyo Cooking, except they improved on it in every way.  Kind of makes me wonder why they released that one first when they could’ve just done this one.  Anyway, you can probably guess what kind of game this is.

Gameplay is simple and straightforward.  You are in a kitchen of an Asian style restaurant and you first press a button to take your order.  You can view the steps to the recipe and pictures of what you need to do to make it.  There is a workstation with shapes of what you need, and a description of what you need to do to make it.  Go to the pantry and get what you need and place it on the workstation.  Then you’ll play a few mini-games to prepare what you just got out, and repeat the process multiple times until you finish the order.  Then hold the button when the order is done and you’ll get money for it.  You get rated on how well you did in the mini-games, too.  You can still tell that this feels like a repurposed VR title, but man the improvements at least make this one playable.  It’s still a bit bland and repetitive, as all you cook are Asian dishes, but it’s still a serviceable cooking game.

Kid Factor:

Nothing violent or objectionable here.  Reading skill is a must, though.  Cooking is rated E for Everyone.
