Pikmin Sprouts Up at Kura Sushi
There’s a chain of conveyor belt sushi restaurants called Kura Sushi. When you go there, if you eat enough sushi plates, you can win little prizes! A couple of years ago, I went there for my birthday because they had Pac-Man prizes! I wrote a big article about it here, so I recommend checking it out. In October of this year, they had Pikmin prizes and promotions, so I decided to go back so here’s another little article about that.
If you want to read a more detailed article about Kura Sushi, I recommend reading my Pac-Man article. I talk more about how the sushi restaurant works, the robots that serve you drinks, etc. I’m not a super big fan of Pikmin, so I didn’t try to get ALL the prizes like I did with Pac-Man. I think most of the time, Kura Sushi’s prizes are anime related, so that’s why it’s been a while since I’ve been there. I think one time they had a Tetris promotion, but I didn’t like any of the prizes. Plus sushi is expensive. But anyway, let’s check out what I did see this time at the restaurant.
Above the sushi kitchen they did have a Pikmin banner.
And along the wall they had Pikmin signs.
When you get your sushi, you place your empty plates into a chute. Each table has a monitor that counts how many plates you’ve turned in, and when you get enough, a prize comes out from the top. So here’s a picture of that. Sadly, the monitor didn’t have any special Pikmin animations like the Pac-Man one did. It just had a generic animation featuring what I presume is the Kura Sushi mascot, some cartoon fisherman guy.
Since I’m not as big of a fan of Pikmin, I only got one prize. I got a magnetic bookmark. You clip the back ends together with a magnet to hold your page. Here’s what mine looked like:
And here’s the paper that went with it.
Other prizes you could get were keychains and phone mounts. You could also get a T-shirt through a special promotion and they even had special Pikmin sushi you could order, but I didn’t see them on the menu. According to the web site, you could get Red Pikmin crunchy rolls, Yellow Pikmin Tamago (I think that’s egg sushi), and Blue Pikmin cheesecake slice. You could also unlock a Pikmin wearing a sushi outfit if you brought in your phone while playing Pikmin Bloom. But I haven’t played that mobile game in YEARS! Anyway, that’s about all there was to the Pikmin promotion. In the comments section, let me know what you think. What kinds of promotions would you like to see at Kura Sushi? I would like to see Kirby, Animal Crossing, or Mega Man promotions! Later! –Cary

Neat! The closest Kura’s to me are in Philly. I might have to make the trip.
