Agent Fall (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X/S, PC)

Be a secret agent and uncover an alien conspiracy in Agent Fall.  It’s a 2D side scrolling retro styled run and gun for one or two players.  It’s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

When you start, you’ll be able to pick from four secret agents: two guys and two gals, but they all play the same.  You can also select your difficulty level, which is nice.  Your agents can run and jump and when you hold down the X button, you’ll fire your gun.  Your normal shots go out one at a time and are infinite, but you can pick up guns with limited ammo so use them wisely.  These include things like rapid fire machine guns, flame throwers, rocket launchers, etc.  You also have a limited number of grenades you can throw with the circle button.  Two can play at the same time, too.

Really the only problem I had with this game is that it’s so short.  You go through a stage in the desert, then the secret base Area 41, then underground sewers, then a couple of short stages where you’re on a motorcycle and in a corn field, and finally on the alien mothership.  But even so, I could see people having some quick and simple, pick up and play couch co-op fun with this.  Not super great, but not bad either.

Kid Factor:

Agent Fall is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Fantasy Violence and Mild Blood.  You shoot all manner of guns at cartoony soldiers, lab guys, and aliens.  And when they get hit, little splashes of red pixels come out.  But that’s it.  Reading skill is helpful for the text, but not necessary just to play.  The selectable difficulty levels make it so most skill levels can enjoy it.
