What They Press Release
I missed this last week but apparently WhatTheyPlay likes me more than I thought. It’s not enough that they’ve hired me to do Ask GamerDad (see below) but they also sent out (to every news outlet they can) the following – flattering – press release.
WHAT THEY PLAY, THE PARENTS GUIDE TO VIDEO GAMES, DEBUTS NEW ADVICE COLUMN FROM FOUNDER OF GAMERDAD.COM
SAN FRANCISCO – February 5, 2008 – What They Play (www.whattheyplay.com), the parents guide to video games, today announced the debut of Ask GamerDad, a new advice column created in partnership with GamerDad.com. The weekly column, which is featured on What They Play, offers parents a unique peer-to-peer forum where they can pose video game-related questions and receive thoughtful and informed feedback from a fellow parent.
Ask GamerDad is written by seasoned video game journalist Andrew Bub, a parent of two children and founder of parent-focused website GamerDad.com and Gaming With Children blog. The column ideally complements What They Play’s singular mission of providing parents with expert insight within an independent and unbiased environment about the themes and content of the video games their children play.
“Andrew is an experienced gamer and a parent, and has a profound understanding of the issues moms and dads face with their kids and video games,” says John Davison, president of What They Like, Inc. “In addition to concise game write-ups and other helpful features, Ask GamerDad is one of the many resources What They Play offers to parents that help demystify the world of video games.”

I do approve of their style because – and they won’t admit it – I think I inspired them to do it the way they are. But the main reason I work for them is the same as the reason I work for CommonSense. If you can’t beat them, make them pay you.
