Just Dance 3 & Just Dance Kids 2

Just Dance lets players jump and jive to a vast assortment of songs, which means exercise and social play. Available for the Wii, Playstation Move and the Kinect, the game lets up to four players dance at once (you need a lot of room for this). The adult version is appropriate for kids but the kids version has songs most youngsters will be more familiar with. It also tones down some of the difficulty.

Difficulty is one of the main reasons to recommend the Just Dance series. It’s not based on choreography like Dance Central, which also encourages party play (you can jump right in) and the game is more forgiving of those with two left feet.

The only problem I have with the game is that easy difficulty (for the Kinect) means it only tracks your torso, I’d prefer if it simply graded harder.  Just Dance is more freeform with lots of moves but little to no actual dance choreography. This means it’s less serious and better for parties. An excellent game, we recommend it highly as an exercise tool, party game and just plain good times.

GAMERBOY (8) : “A lot of people can join (4) and its good for parties. There are lots of songs.”

GAMERGIRL (11) : “If you like dancing and you’re afraid of dancing you should try Just Dance because it makes you feel like a good dancer. Up to 4 players can play and it has “This is Halloween” from the Nightmare Before Christmas.”

GAMERMOM: “I like that the dances were challenging but still fun and with multiple players I can play with both of my kids. And I like that it’s more freeform than Dance Central but… I really prefer Dance Central 2.”

AGES: 8+ for Just Dance 3, 4+ for Just Dance Kids 2.
