There have been controversial video games ever since video games first were imagined. But a reader asks me if games from the long ago past (NES, Atari 2600) can possibly be rated M for Mature. And what about M-rated games from a decade, or more, ago? This and much more in this week’s Ask GamerDad.

I remember playing Carmageddon just over 10 years ago – I still have the game disk in my pile of ‘old Mac stuff that won’t play on Intel’. The game was intense and single-minded – kill everyone with as much brutality as possible. But it was a blast because it didn’t take itself seriously. But it just isn’t for kids – not then, not now. Because it is like yousay, it isn’t all about the realism of the graphics.
