At last! Finally! The inevitable hardcore gamer message board topic comes to Ask GamerDad. So, what will the answer be. Are games art? Or aren’t they? Oh and a 13-year old wants me to recommend Metal Gear Solid 4.

The July 4th edition of Ask GamerDad has soared, dazzled and landed. Click here to ooh and ahhh. This week I, somewhat controversially, tackle a variety of patriotic subjects. Ranging from Sid Meier’s Civil War to Lt. Col. (Ret) David Grossman, to wargaming during wartime. Fun stuff! Grab a hotdog, swat the mosquitoes and enjoy the picnic.

Dear GamerDad,I’m 12 and my mom thinks that I will become a lunatic if I play Mature-rated video games but I’m only asking for games with no drugs, sex, or alcohol and I’ve been begging for six years because I’m too old for kiddish games and I have every Teen game I’d like which is not very much. I used to play GTA3 when I was six and I was fine and I am very mature for my age. All this and a question about socks! more…

There have been controversial video games ever since video games first were imagined. But a reader asks me if games from the long ago past (NES, Atari 2600) can possibly be rated M for Mature. And what about M-rated games from a decade, or more, ago? This and much more in this week’s Ask GamerDad.
