Another week = more questions! I’m actually getting enough lately to form “theme columns” – this isn’t one of those. It’s sort of a grab bag this week. Questions like “Are there any M-games for a 9-year old to play” and “Is God of War okay for an 11-year old?” and “Is 9 too young for Smash Bros?” All that, and a bit more, at Ask GamerDad!

Sorry, I was out of town and didn’t link this one when it went up. It looks like I’m on a roll now. The questions for my exclusive WhatTheyPlay column are getting harder and better – and more numerous – and I’m starting to have a really good time answering them. WhatTheyPlay .com has posted the latest issue of “Ask GamerDad” – the column that answers questions and is written by GamerDad. Come on, you know you want to hear the questions and read the answers. Who are you to refuse? One question is about Grand Theft Auto and a 10-year old for cryin’ out loud! And the second? Two words my friend: “Maple” and “Story” – I’ve said too much already. This week’s edition we look at video game recommendations for a 15-year old with Down Syndrome (answered with the help of my brilliant readers, I might add!) and talk about whether or not a 10-year old should play Grand Theft Auto. Really. A 10-year old. Go ahead and read my answer!

Down Syndrome Question – Help?

For Ask GamerDad at WhatTheyPlay.com I got a good question from the mother of a lad with Down’s Syndrome. She asks what kind of games – nothing where you kill people or people die – he can handle and gives Animal Crossing as an example of something he can’t handle. Can any reader direct me to the best organization where I can find an expert, or have any experience with this? I want to help her out. Please post below or Email Me privately.

This didn’t quite come out the way I planned. It was all very last minute really. I had surgery last week, so I didn’t have time to tackle any of the questions I normally would – no time for research, see. Then Linda phoned from work and inspired this whole thing that begins by wrapping up that terrible event (I will stop talking about it one day) and ends with me recommending WiiFit and exergaming. Missed this because of my procedure but it’s still a solid installment with a couple good questions. WhatTheyPlay.com has been wonderful in promoting this column, me, and most importantly, what they bring to this debate.
