Spring Movie 2018 Rampage

There were actually quite a few movies that came out this Spring that interested me, so here’s a blog about them.  I’ll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum, and I’ll try to make any spoilers I make very subtle, but just in case, I’ll put a spoiler warning here anyway.

Star Wars Pinball: The Last Jedi (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, Mobile)

The newest in the Star Wars saga is now in pinball form on Pinball FX3!  It’s available on nearly all current game systems, PC, and mobile devices, but reviewed on PS4 here.  To play Star Wars Pinball: The Last Jedi, first you need to download Pinball FX3 (Zen Pinball if you are on mobile).  Pinball FX3 is free and acts as your hub.  Then you can purchase and download tables separately.  Oh yeah, and since people are particularly sensitive about spoilers regarding these movies, I guess I’ll put out a spoiler warning for this game review, too.

Winter Movies

Usually at the end of the summer, I’ll have watched enough movies to write a blog about them.  And sometimes, that happens in the winter, too.  This is one of those winters!  So here’s a blog about the movies I’ve seen in the past couple of months.  There might be some slight spoilers here and there.  Nothing too significant, but you’ve been warned anyway.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)

The evil Kang has conquered time and space and is bringing Marvel universes from different time periods together to create one big city called Chonopolis.  Now modern day Manhattan is next door to Asgard, Roaring 20’s Manhattan (complete in black and white), 2099 Nuevo York, and even an alternate timeline New York where Hydra has taken over.  It’s utter chaos and it’s up to Marvel superheroes from different time periods to team up and save the day!  You’ll play as classic Marvel characters like Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Doctor Strange, Thor, and more, as well as meet up with alternate timeline versions of characters like Cowboy Captain America in the Wild West and Spider-Gwen.  It’s the wackiest LEGO super hero adventure yet!  LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is available for nearly all current game consoles, but reviewed on PS4 here.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite: Team Marvel

It’s Marvel Week here at GamerDad.com.  We’ll be looking at the characters in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, and at the end of the week, a review of the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game!  Anyway, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is a fighting game featuring characters from Marvel comic and Capcom game universes.  Usually when I play a fighting game that has a lot of interesting characters in it, I’ll write a blog about them, so that’s what we’re going to do here.  We’ll start with the Marvel cast.  Keep in mind that I’m not a big comic book fan, so most of my knowledge of Marvel characters comes from the movies, Marvel vs. Capcom games, and the LEGO games.  So when I go over these characters, if you ARE a Marvel fan, please feel free to correct me on anything or provide any information or insight that you might like to share.

Just Dance 2018 (PS4, Switch, Wii U, Wii, PS3, Xbox One, 360)

The Just Dance series of games is one of the more popular console dance music games out there.  So much so that there’s a new yearly release annually, and it’s time for the 2018 version to hit with more songs and other goodies.  It’s available for nearly all current game consoles, but reviewed on PS4 here.

The Mummy Demastered (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)

The Mummy is one of Universal Studios’ most popular movie franchises.  There have been several sequels and spinoffs, a ride at their theme parks, and I think there was even a cartoon at one point.  Recently they’ve remade the movie and WayForward published a game based on it called The Mummy Demastered.  The reason for that title is because they made the game to look like a movie tie-in from the 16-bit era, and it’s available to download for nearly all the current game consoles and PC (reviewed on PS4 here). It’s a 2-D platforming run and gun exploration type of game, similar to Metroid.  With all those good things going for it, could anything go wrong?  You’ll just have to read on to find out!

Three of Universal Studios’ most popular movies: Jaws, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, and the Back to the Future trilogy are now available as video pinball tables from Zen Studios, makers of the Pinball FX and Zen Pinball platforms.  But these three tables are the first new ones for Zen Studios’ upgraded Pinball FX3.  It’s available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
