I have some friends who are into professional wrestling, but I’ve never been able to get into it myself. I don’t have anything against professional wrestling, and I think the physical prowess of those athletes is amazing, but it’s just not my cup of tea. But every now and then I’ll try watching or playing something related to wrestling to see what it is my friends like about the whole thing. Recently SEGA released a downloadable endless clicker called WWE Tap Mania, so I decided to try that. Of course, that might’ve been a mistake as I’m not a big fan of endless clickers either, but let’s see how it goes. The game is available on iOS and Android devices, but reviewed on iPad here.
LEGO Dimensions Wonder Woman Fun Pack

The Wonder Woman movie has been very successful in theaters this summer, and may end up being the best movie this season. So to celebrate the success, WB Games sent me the Wonder Woman Fun Pack for LEGO Dimensions for review purposes. And so here’s the review! LEGO Dimensions is available for nearly all current consoles, but played on Wii U here.
Pokémon: Magikarp Jump! (iOS, Android)

Because of the popularity of Pokémon GO, the Pokémon Company is really embracing the mobile market. Now there is a separate game starring everyone’s favorite Pokémon character. No, it’s not Pikachu or Meowth. Not Snorlax or Mewtwo. Oh wait, did I say favorite? What I meant was this game stars the most useless Pokémon of all: the flopping fish Magikarp! Yup, he has his own game in Magikarp Jump!, a free-to-play downloadable title on mobile devices (but reviewed on iPad here). You’re just going to have to check this one out to believe it!
The Games of The Disney Afternoon Collection

Recently I reviewed The Disney Afternoon Collection. It’s a compilation of Capcom’s NES titles that were based on shows on The Disney Afternoon, a block of Disney cartoons that aired back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I really loved watching The Disney Afternoon as a kid, and I also enjoyed the NES games a lot, too. In fact, many of the games on this collection are more memorable to me than titles like Mario! They could’ve called this the Cary’s Childhood Collection! So I thought I’d go into more detail and share my memories of each of the NES games on this collection, and the cartoons they’re based on.
The Disney Afternoon Collection (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Back in the late 80’s and early to mid 90’s, Disney had a block of weekday after school cartoons on TV called The Disney Afternoon. They featured such memorable and high-quality shows like DuckTales, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, and many more. Tons of people, including myself, have very fond memories watching these cartoons as kids. I guarantee that if you search for Disney Afternoon on the Web or YouTube, you’ll find lots of folks gushing about these shows. Anyway, around this time, game maker Capcom published some licensed games based on many Disney Afternoon properties for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Back then, just like today, most licensed games were not very good. But Capcom bucked that trend with their Disney games, as most of them were just as good as what the best the NES had to offer. In fact, Capcom’s Disney and Mega Man games were more memorable to me as a kid than Mario! Anyway, many other gamers can attest to the statement that these games were good. And now, Capcom has gathered six of these classics in a compilation called The Disney Afternoon Collection. Although they might as well have called it The Cary’s Childhood Collection. Anyway, you can download this set of games on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but it’s reviewed on PS4 here.
Pokémon Easter Egg Decorating Kit

Pokémon has always been popular, but in the past year or so, it’s had a resurgence in popularity thanks to the mobile game Pokémon GO, and successful new titles in the franchise like Pokémon Sun and Moon. So because of that, here I present to you, the Pokémon Easter Egg Decorating Kit! I saw it at the store and just had to write about it. I could’ve sworn I wrote about the same thing a long time ago, but I couldn’t find an article about it so I either must’ve imagined it or it was such a long time ago that it’s not on the Internet anymore.
LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Level Pack

So the last in the batch of dollar store LEGO Dimension sets that an online friend in California sent me is the Doctor Who Level Pack. I didn’t have to pay my friend back, he just wanted me to review them. The Doctor Who set is the one I actually wanted the most. “Oh wow, Cary, you’re a Doctor Who fan?” you may be thinking. Nope, absolutely not. I know next to nothing about the franchise. But my brother Jeff’s girlfriend loves Doctor Who, so when this set came out, my original plan was to buy it so they could come over and have fun building and playing the level. But around that time, I lost my last job, so I went into “money saving mode” and didn’t buy it. So I’m glad I was able to get it after all so they could enjoy it. Anyway, two warnings before I start the review. Like I said earlier, I know next to nothing about Doctor Who, so if I seem uninformed in my review, that’s why. But not knowing about something has never stopped me from writing about it before. And the other warning is that there may be an accidental spoiler alert here and there, so please go easy on me, Doctor Who fans. LEGO Dimensions Scooby Doo Team Pack

So the next in line to review in the batch of dollar store LEGO Dimensions sets is the Scooby Doo Team Pack. This is another franchise that I’m not a big fan of, but I still have respect for it. Scooby Doo has been popular since before I was born, and it continued its popularity when I was a kid, and even today! I watched it a lot as a kid, simply because kids will watch anything. I will say there is one cartoon Scooby Doo movie that I really do like, and that’s Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. Seriously, it’s awesome. I’m also glad I got to meet the original voice of Scooby Doo, before he passed away (Don Messick). He also did the voices for Scrappy Doo, Boo Boo, Muttley, Papa Smurf, and many more! Anyway, so even though I’m not as much of a fan, I was mildly curious about the LEGO Dimensions set, so I’m glad I got it! It’s available for nearly all the current game consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here.
LEGO Dimensions The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack

So apparently a lot of the older LEGO Dimensions sets are being sold at dollar stores and other discount places now. I’ve even seen a few sets at my local Five and Below, but nothing I had to buy. However, an online friend of mine from California found some sets at his nearby dollar store, and he offered to send me one set that I wanted to try. But not only that, he surprised me by sending me a few more LEGO Dimensions sets in the mail as well! He didn’t want me to send him any money, all he asked was that I reviewed them here at GamerDad! That was REALLY nice of him to send me all these sets, so reviewing them is the least I can do. So all this week I’ll be reviewing the ones he sent me. Except for the Portal 2 set since I already talked about that one in a previous article. Anyway, the first set we’ll go over today is The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack.
LEGO Dimensions Knight Rider Fun Pack

When I was a little kid, I mostly watched cartoons on TV. But there were some live action shows that caught my interest. One was The Dukes of Hazzard. Mainly because it had cars that jumped over ramps and stuff. I would get out my Pac-Man TV tray and play with my Dukes of Hazzard cars while the show was on (keep in mind I was like, five years old). I wish they could’ve made a Dukes of Hazzard LEGO Dimensions set, but I think I may know why they didn’t (but we won’t get into that here). Anyway, another show I liked as a kid was Knight Rider. I don’t remember as much about the human characters in the show. I know David Hasselhoff was in it, but I don’t know what he did (did he even have a job?). But the most important part of the show to Little Cary was that it had a TALKING CAR!!! Back then, all of us kids had Big Wheels and I remember when the Knight Rider Big Wheel came out and it has a brake mechanism that would make your Big Wheel spin out. I was so jealous of the kids who had that, but not too jealous since I was still pretty happy with my Pac-Man Big Wheel. Anyway, now you can relive the action of the TV show in LEGO form with the Knight Rider Fun Pack for LEGO Dimensions. The game is available for nearly all current home game consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here.
