Phineas & Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff (Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS, 360)
In Disney Channel’s hit cartoon series, Phineas and Ferb, two boys (the title characters), try and cram as much outlandish fun as they can in the summer break before school starts. Now you and your kids can have one last summer bash with the gang and help them find artifacts for their backyard Museum of Cool Stuff (Wii version reviewed here).
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures
Very few video game characters get their own cartoon show. And even fewer get multiple shows based on their electronic adventures. I think only Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man have pulled that last feat off, maybe Street Fighter if you count the anime toons. And now, Pac-Man has done the very same thing. All through this summer, the classic arcade dot and ghost muncher is starring in a brand new computer animated cartoon series called Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, airing on Disney XD. As a huge Pac-Man fan, you KNOW I’d be writing about it sooner or later. So here it is!
Pac-Man Dash (iPad)
Many popular video game characters have jumped on the continuously running game genre so prevalent on the mobile gaming platforms. Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Dash), and Rayman (Rayman’s Jungle Run), to name a few. Now Pac-Man is taking a bite out of the dash and run gameplay concept with Pac-Man Dash for iOS devices (played on iPad for this review). The game is also based on the new computer animated cartoon on Disney XD: Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures!
Star Trek (PS3, 360, PC)
Just in time for the release of the new Star Trek movie comes a brand new Star Trek video game featuring the new cast playing the original characters! Vulcans are using a secret space station to harness the power of their sun to provide energy to a new planet. But a new race of lizard-like warmongering aliens called the Gorn are trying to steal it so they can create rifts in the universe. Now it’s up to Captain Kirk and Spock to work together to stop the aliens from taking over Federation space! (PS3 version reviewed here)

Ni no Super Bowl: Wrath of the Commercials
So another Super Bowl has come and gone. I enjoy watching the Super Bowl every year; it’s like a national holiday nowadays. It’s usually a pretty good game, even if I don’t care about the teams. And sometimes the commercials are fun to watch, too. But I just like commercials in general. Yeah, I know, I’m crazy like that. Sometimes I think the commercials are better than the actual TV show! So as I like to do every year, here’s a play by play report of the commercials at this year’s Super Bowl that caught my eye.
Horsing Around With the My Little Pony iPad Game and Cartoon
One of Hasbro’s most popular and well-known toy lines for girls: My Little Pony, has gotten an extra boost in recent years thanks to a fairly new cartoon based on the toys that’s surprisingly a higher quality show than what you may expect (there are reasons for that which we’ll go into later). So in honor of the release of the My Little Pony iPad game, based on the cartoon and toys, here’s a blog featuring a review of the game and overview of the cartoon show!
Power Rangers Super Samurai (Xbox 360 Kinect)
Transform yourself into a Power Ranger and battle evil monsters with Power Rangers Super Samurai for Xbox 360 Kinect. In the adventure mode, the game will take your picture so it looks like you’re in the game. Swipe the screen to make a symbol appear, then outfit yourself as one of the five colored Power Rangers. Then perform kicks, punches, and special move poses to beat up waves of bad guys and a boss.
ICE: Merry Madagascar
Every year at Christmastime, the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine has an ice sculpture exhibit. I went to it two years ago when it was about the A Charlie Brown Christmas TV classic special. Last year it was about Shrek, and since I’m not a big fan of Shrek, I skipped out on that one (plus tickets are kind of expensive). But this year, the exhibit was Merry Madagascar, based on the Christmas special featuring characters from the Madagascar movies. Since I like the penguins from Madagascar, I decided to go see it this year. So here are some fun pictures from the trip!
Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!! (3DS, DS)
Adventure Time on Cartoon Network is a smash hit, with toys, plush, and DVDs selling like hotcakes. Now there is an Adventure Time video game for Nintendo’s portable handhelds (3DS version reviewed here). Play as adventurous boy Finn and his magical shape-shifting stretchy talking dog Jake as they go on a quest in the land of Ooo to teach the Ice King a lesson. You see, the Ice King stole Finn and Jake’s garbage so he could make a garbage princess, and they can’t allow that. On their way, Finn and Jake will interact with characters from the show, including Princess Bubblegum, Lemongrab, Marceline, and many more! So is the game any good? Absolutely! You’ll just have to read on to find out why.
