This Week in Games: April 19 – 25

dynwargund2 We have seen a winter and spring release season that has been unrelenting – perhaps not like the Fall season, but much busier than usual. However, recent weeks have shown signs that it was slowing – two weeks agi we just had DS and PC, and last week the same. This week, not too much at all. The big release is the multi-platform Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 on X360, PS3 and PS2, and the early looks for that one are pretty awful according to a couple of ‘official’ XBOX magazine reviews. Aside from that, we have little other than the over-the-top Stalin vs. Martians for the PC. There isn’t much more this week, so check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: April 12 – 18

demigod_boxWasn’t it just last week I was saying that the releases were all about the DS & PC? Well, that continues to be true this week! The DS has some solid releases for everyone to play on their new DSi such as Dark Spire and C.O.R.E. while the PC has some interesting stuff such as Demigod from Gas Powered Games, whose previous works include Dungeon Siege I & II and Supreme Commander and the unfortunate Space Siege … so we hope this is much better. There isn’t much more this week, so check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: April 5 – 11

dsiWell, it is pretty much impossible to ignore the fact that the big release this week isn’t software, but hardware. This morning the newest member of the Nintendo DS franchise launches – the DSi! Featuring dual camers, larger screens, slimmer styling, and an all-new DSi Store. There are several mini-games released in the DSi Store today, as well as the WarioWare collection. Were it not for the DSi I would call this the ‘week of the PC’! Aside from the multi-platform Godfather II and Chronicles of Riddick, the PC gets an excellent turn-based strategy game Elven Legacy and another expansion to the excellent Company of Heroes franchise. There is plenty to go around this week, so check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: March 29 – April 4

gh_metallicaAfter some weeks that left folks wondering how they missed spring & summer and went straight to the fall release schedule, things have calmed back down. The big release is Guitar Hero: Metallica for the XBOX360, PS3 and Wii. And not too much else – especially since the PC release of Braid has apparently been delayed until August! Check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: March 22 – 28

pokemonplatinumLooking at retail sales advertisements this week you would get the impression there is only one gaming being released this week: Pokemon Platinum. And while that will likely sell as much as every other game coming out this week combined, there are several other new releases, including a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Wii and DS, a shovelware-looking Monsters & Aliens for the upcoming shovelware movie, and some random decent looking action games … Check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: March 15 – 21

gta_chinatownwarsTalk about the Invasion of the Handhelds! This week the PSP gets an excellent looking shooter from the folks who brought us the Syphon Filter games, Resistance Retribution. The DS gets a release list that would make any console proud for a holiday release list! As for the rest … well, not very much, including a PC list that includes half the games that supposedly came out last week, and the week before. But this week isn’t about them – if you have a DS or PSP, I hope you’ve been saving your pennies … Check out the list! more…

This Week in Games: Feb. 8 – 14

This week has a bit more interesting stuff than we’ve seen recently, with a few different interesting releases. The multi-platform F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will try to find success in spite of a demo widely regarded as falling somewhere between mediocre and average. The XBOX360 gets Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, the Wii sees the release of NASCAR Kart Racing and PSP owners get the sequel to one of the most loved games for the platform with LocoRoco 2.
