Apparently the tide has turned from the flood of releases to taking time to make sure to sell everything. This is evidenced by the fact that all three of Sony’s platforms combine for three new games this week, with one a leftover from last week and the PS3 getting no new games at all. The biggest release this week comes from the DS – the hotly anticipated remake of Chrono Trigger. The DS also gets a new Age of Empires game to follow the well recieved original release from 2005. Other than that … well, not much in terms of major releases. Well, maybe Gothic 3 Collector’s Edition will actually come out this week and deliver me the expansion supposedly released last week (but apparently not despite a press release to the contrary). This Week in Games: November 16 – 22

Perhaps the interesting note this week is not that just abou every platform has a large release list with some standout games, but that the PSP has only one game … and it is a multiplatform game coming out on every platform. My personal ‘game overload’ comes from two PC expansions to major RPG’s – Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods(PC) and Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir(PC). Other highlights include Shaun White Snowboarding (Xbox 360/PS3/Wii/PS2/PSP/DS/PC), Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Xbox 360/PS3), Tomb Raider Underworld(Xbox 360/PS3/Wii/DS/PC), and Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii). This Week in Games: November 9 – 15

Another week, another massive list … and perhaps the biggest release this week is ‘massive’ indeed – World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack (PC). Other highlights include Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox 360/PS3/Wii/PSP/DS/PC), Mirror’s Edge (Xbox 360/PS3), Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts (Xbox 360), and Star Wars Clone Wars games for both the DS and Wii. This Week in Games: October 26 – Nov. 1

With well over 80 new games this week, there is something for evryone! One person’s ‘shovelware’ is another’s ‘favorite game ever’. There are some really big games launching this week – the delayed LittleBigPlanet, the guaranteed smash Guitar Hero World Tour and my personal choice of the week Fallout 3. This week the game the RPG world has been waiting for over a decade arrives, much different than anyone might have expected, and all of the angst and posturing of the past couple of years will finally end … or at least transition to a new phase. The PS2 is back and still going strong with 15 new games, more than twice as many as the PS3, in a sign that Sony still has a major hitmaker on their hands even two years after the release of their ‘next gen’ entry.Check out the rest of the list! more…
